Artificial intelligence has emerged from the realms of sci-fi into a burgeoning industry, as computing power grows at a rapid pace. London-based DigitalGenius, founded by Dmitry Aksenov, is capitalising on this evolution.

Its flagship product, FinGenius, is aimed at the financial sector and combines artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing and human-like reasoning to automate tailored call responses for individual customers, without employing help desks or call centres.

FinGenius partnered with Accenture in 2014, working with the 12 largest banks through Accenture’s fintech programme. FinGenius has also attracted corporate interest from brands including Unilever, BMW and Panasonic.

In June 2015, DigitalGenius carried out its first major fundraising, securing $3m (£2.1m) in a round led by Metamorphic Ventures and in April raised a further $4.1m (£2.8m).
