KFit

The sharing economy has fuelled many business ideas from finance to accommodation and Joel Neoh, previously head of discount business Groupon in Asia Pacific, has hit on another hot area ripe for the sharing economy – fitness.

In April 2015, Neoh launched KFit, an app that enables Asia Pacific residents to discover, plan and book local fitness classes, choosing a range of different activities for a fixed monthly fee.

The concept offers consumers a cost-effective choice and helps gyms and fitness centres attract new customers and optimise use of facilities.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the company operates in 10 cities, including Sydney, Perth, Auckland and Hong Kong, and has over 293,000 people registered. The company attracted $3.25m (£2.25m) of seed funding in July 2015, and in January 2016 raised $12m (£8.25m) of Series A funding, led by Venturra Capital.
