MatchPint

Pub finder app MatchPint enables sports fans to locate nearby pubs showing live sport – and also forms partnerships with pub chains and drink brands.

It was founded in 2011 by school friends Dom Collingwood and Leo MacLehose while they were at Cambridge and Manchester Business School respectively, and raised £1m in funding in 2015 from private equity firm 24 Haymarket.

MacLehose says: “At the heart of MatchPint is a business-to-business product, which enables pubs televising sport to organise, market, optimise and measure their sports offering, thus driving footfall and revenue.”

The company recently announced a partnership with Carlsberg for this summer’s UEFA Euro 2016 tournament, with the beer brand offering publicans a free, three-month trial of the service to encourage more fans into their venues.

The app is free to consumers and the website claims around 270,000 monthly users. Chief marketing officer Mark Weston joined in 2014 from consultancy Value Partners.
