PlaceIQ aims to connect physical and digital consumer activity and offers a platform of services that aggregate specific audiences based on location, time and behaviour.

The company was founded in the US in 2011 and launched in the UK in 2015 by Duncan McCall, who formerly built and led Silicon Valley-based system integrator IS Solutions, and Steve Milton, who most recently led software and systems development at Digital Globe.

PlaceIQ has developed ‘Place Visit Rate’, a foot traffic measurement metric designed to track consumers between retail locations and measure real-time, in-store return on investment.

Its patented technology has been used by Audi as well as Starcom Mediavest Group and Mediacom. Now headquartered in New York, PlaceIQ secured $25m (£17m) in Series D funding in January 2016, led by Harmony Partners, and has raised more than $52m (£35.6m) in total.
