Postmates is a logistics and on-demand delivery platform, connecting urban customers with local couriers to enable delivery of products in under an hour.
Based in San Francisco and operating across over 100 US cities, the company was co-founded in 2011 by web developer Sam Street, software engineer Sean Plaice and Bastian Lehmann, former German country manager at Refresh Mobile.
To date, Postmates has raised more than $138m (£95m) in funding and is on track to be profitable in 2017. The company is completing one million deliveries a month and in March 2016 launched a monthly subscription service, Postmates Plus Unlimited, with merchants including American Apparel.
Between January 2015 and March 2016, Postmates drove over $350m (£240m) in sales to local economies. The company’s aim is to become the “on-demand delivery infrastructure for every major city in the world”.
