Smartfrog

Dublin and Berlin-based internet of things startup Smartfrog has created a home security app that lets people see what is going on in their home from any location.

The company was co-founded by serial entrepreneur Andreas Rudyk and enables users to manage up to 10 cameras and retain video footage.

The Smartfrog Surveillance Camera includes a zoom function and integrated motion sensor and is sold by Amazon. Users are alerted to any movement in their home through the app.

The company was formed in March 2015 and hired IT expert Charles Fraenkl as its CEO last autumn. Fraenkl was previously the CEO of communication technology company Gigaset AG, which is listed on the main German stock market.

Smartfrog raised a further €20m (£17m) at the end of last year to take its funding to €28m (£24m). Its investors include international venture capital funds e.ventures, Target Global and Jean-Pierre Wyss, co-founder of GPS technology company u-blox.
