Trail co-founders Joe Cripps and Will Grace felt the hospitality industry was crying out for innovation so they created a connected app to cut the time employees spend on administration.

Cripps had been involved in retail technology for 15 years at high street brands including Pret A Manger and Itsu, while Grace had digital agency experience working with clients including the BBC, Sky and Emirates.

Since 2014, Trail has raised more than £1.5m from angel and institutional investors for its workflow and workforce management technology product. Funding has come from venture capital firm Global Founders Capital and Seedcamp.

Trail provides a smart checklist to help hospitality teams manage daily operations. They use social media tools to communicate in real time with workers at different restaurant sites.

The app is integrated with other software to help users move away from a paper-based administrative system.
