Proximity London has poached OglivyOne chief executive Mike Dodds (pictured) to head the agency following the departure of Amanda Philips. She resigned from the agency without a job to go.

Dodds joins the Omnicom-owned network as it merges with sister agency Craik Jones Watson Mitchell Voelkel. The integration is due to be completed in mid-November.

Cilla Snowball, chief executive of Proximity and AMV Group, says that Dodds brings “gravitas and experience”.

Dodds was appointed as chief executive of OgilvyOne in 2007 after three years as managing director of the agency. He has been responsible for the agency’s strategic management across its off and online business and has led accounts including BT, British Gas and Cancer Research UK.

Craik Jones chief executive Mike Welsh is also leaving the group ahead of the merger. He has been in the role for just six months and is joining Publicis Dialog in the same role.
