Douwe Egberts awards 7m planning business to Zebra
Douwe Egberts, the coffee brand owned by Sara Lee, has handed the planning account for its 7m media business to Zebra Media, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zenith.
The move follows talks with other media agencies including Frontline and BJK&E Media. Rocket, part of New PHD, was the incumbent.
Equinox Communications, another subsidiary of Zenith, handles the media buying for the brand. It was awarded the account in April following a pitch against New PHD and TMD Carat.
Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO handles Douwe Egbert’s creative advertising.
Parent agency Zenith would not be able to handle any Douwe Egberts business because it holds the media account for Kraft Jacobs Suchard, which has several major coffee brands including Kenco, Maxwell House and Carte Noire.
Douwe Egberts launched its Cafinesse chilled liquid coffee in April and has supported the product with TV and outdoor ads since May (MW April 4). The company also invests in TV sponsorship and has recently sponsored Channel 4’s Dance to the Music of Time.
