Duncan’s role at BBC split in two, for now

The BBC has split marketing chief Andy Duncan’s role in two. His duties will be shared by head of audience services, Genevieve Lawrence, and head of marketing strategy and planning, Helen Kellie, on an interim basis.

The director of marketing, communications and audiences was recently appointed as the new Channel 4 chief executive (MW last week).

Lawrence will sit on the same three management boards as Duncan, namely creative, commercial and executive. However, Kellie will not sit on the board and will be responsible only for developing the marketing strategy.

She is one of the BBC marketers thought to be in the race to replace Duncan. Other BBC marketing executives who are believed to have been lined up include Sally Osman, head of communications; Jane Scott, controller of television strategy and marketing; and Chris Munday, controller audience research and analysis.
