EasyCar appoints new chief executive

EasyCar.Com has appointed Bill Jones as its new chief executive. He takes up the position this week and replaces Steve Maltby who left the company in October.

Jones joins from rival car rental company Hertz Europe, where he was vice president for marketing and sales for nine years. He has previously held roles at Disneyland Paris, Thomas Cook and Hogg Robinson Travel.

The easyCar.com service was launched by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the founder of the easyGroup, in April 2000. He remains the majority owner of the car company, which offers low cost car hire in 2,400 locations in more than 60 countries.

It recently expanded into van rental in the UK under the easyVan.com brand.
