eBay calls ad review following restructure

Online auctioneer eBay is reviewing its pan European advertising account, thought to be worth around £15m.

Incumbent agencies and others have been invited to pitch by European marketing director Torsten Schuppe who is leading the review.

Schuppe, a former UK marketing director for eBay, wants an agency that can handle a pan European brief following the consolidation of European marketing to a central team in Switzerland to work alongside its international advertising division, already based in Switzerland and headed by Christian Kunz.

The brand wants agencies that can organise local teams into groups that can handle larger regional briefs across the territory.

Current incumbents across Europe include Albion in the UK, Euro RSCG in France and Springer and Jacoby in Germany. eBay is also reviewing its UK media account, currently held by PHD. The £1.2m pre-Christmas account was awarded to Carat on a temporary basis last November.
