Ebay promotes top UK marketer to operations director

Ebay has promoted its top UK marketer Sarah Calcott to a new role as senior director of operations.

In her new position, Calcott will retain oversight of marketing while taking over responsiblitity for the buyer and seller experience, shipping services such as click-and-collect and all customer support and service. She will report into eBay’s VP of marketplaces, Tanya Lawler.

Ebay is not currently looking for a replacement.

The move comes as eBay expands into deal with Argos, which allows customers to pick up items from the online retailer at one of 650 Argos stores nationwide. By the end of the year, Calcott says the service will be available from 65,000 sellers on the Bay site.

Ebay is also launching its first global brand campaign later this month. Entitled “Shop the World” it will aim to position eBay as a “modern, trusted” marketplace.

Calcott joined eBay in 2012 as director of programme delivery for Europe before taking on the role as UK marketing boss last year following the departure of Amanda Metcalfe. She previously spent seven years in various director roles, ranging from marketing operations to director of strategic programme delivery, at BSkyB.
