EGS and Deeks join up to launch brand strategy service

Communication planning agency EdwardsGroomSaunders (EGS) is launching an alliance with brand consultancy Deeks Consulting to develop clients’ brand strategy and positioning.

The partnership aims to work with clients ahead of them briefing their media and advertising agencies. It is communications planning specialist EGS’s first alliance since launching in 2006 and is the only such partnership in the marketplace, according to EGS.

The agency says the initiative will offer clients a "seamless" service from brand development to communications and channel planning, strategy and execution.

Co-founder Jez Groom says the move follows consultation with clients who want a marketing communications plan ahead of approaching or briefing advertising and media agencies.

He says clients increasingly needed to understand how and where brands should promote themselves before they begin speaking to their roster of specialist executional agencies.

It is understood that the alliance has at least one client on board, wanting advice on its digital brand strategy. Existing Deek Consulting clients include the Law Society, Orange and Diamond Trading Company. EGS lists Storm Watches, publishing house H Bauer and restaurant chain Nando’s among its clients.

EGS was created by former Starcom executives Groom, Pete Edwards and Will Saunders. Deeks Consulting set up shop in 2005 when Sara Deeks left Universal Pictures International where she was marketing director.
