Elvis wins Digital UK DM business

Elvis Communications has won the direct marketing business for television digital switchover advisory body Digital UK.

The agency replaces incumbent Rapier on the business after the pitch overseen by communications director Beth Thoren. The agency pitched against the Rapier, EHS Brann and Tequila.

Digital UK is supervising marketing communications on digital switchover until the final switch off date for analogue in 2012. This year it is focusing on switchover in the Granada region.

The body said last autumn that it was switching its marketing focus away from national media and in October announced that it would increase 2009’s marketing budget by more than 20 per cent to £30 million and next year’s budget to £35 million.

The body’s advertising is handled by Abbott Mead Vickers. BBDO and the agency helped create the Digit Al robot character seen in TV advertising.

Digital UK’s digital business, currently overseen by Grand Union, is currently under review.
