EMAP Advertising picks successor to Bleakley

EMAP Advertising has promoted Karen Stacey to broadcast sales director. She replaces Tim Bleakley, who left the company to join Viacom Outdoor last month.

Stacey, who was previously radio sales controller, takes on the role with immediate effect. She will focus the division on increasing EMAP’s London share, its digital business and on developing creative solutions for advertisers. It is not known whether she is planning to appoint someone to take up her previous role.

Dee Ford, managing director of EMAP Radio, says that she expects 2005 to be a big year for the radio division and that Stacey’s experience both at EMAP and Channel 4, where she worked on the sales team, make her ideal to head the advertising arm.

Her appointment comes as the EMAP Advertising managing director Dave King leaves to join The Telegraph Group as commercial director. Ford is working alongside Paul Keenan, chief executive of EMAP Consumer Media, to find a direct replacement for King. An appointment is expected to be made early next year.

Stacey joined EMAP On Air, the former name of the radio sales division, in 1997 from Channel 4, where she worked for five years.
