EMAP Radio hires marketing directors for local stations

EMAP Radio has appointed two group marketing directors who will oversee 17 of its local radio music stations.

Brendan Moffett has been appointed marketing director across nine stations, most of which are branded Magic. The stations that fall inside Moffett’s remit include Magic 1548 in Liverpool and Piccadilly in Manchester. He will also have responsibility for Melody Radio in London which the group recently acquired from Hanson for 25m.

These stations are aimed at the 30 to 44 age group that EMAP has dubbed “middle youth”.

Moffett says: “I am looking forward to developing the presence of the Magic brand both on and off air.”

Cath Murphy will take responsibility for the remaining eight stations which are the group’s big city brands. They include Hallam FM in Sheffield, Metro in Newcastle and Aire FM in Leeds.

These stations are aimed at the 15 to 34 age group, and play a younger, more contemporary mix of music.

Moffett was previously EMAP marketing director for EMAP Radio Yorkshire, while Murphy was promoted from EMAP Radio Northwest where she also was marketing director.
