EMAP seeks marketing director for men’s titles

EMAP Metro, the men’s and lifestyle publishing division of EMAP, is looking for a marketing director in the aftermath of publishing director Marcus Rich’s departure for EMAP Australia.

The marketing director would replace Metro head of marketing Andy Semple, who becomes general manager of film titles.

Semple will report to publishing director Phil Thomas on Neon and Premiere but will have ultimate responsibility for Empire.

Business manager of men’s titles Nick Williams becomes general manager of men’s titles, reporting to Thomas on FHM and XL, but with overall responsibility for Total Sport.

Williams’ brief formerly included Sky Magazine. However, the title now comes under the remit of Sarah Janes, publishing director of titles aimed at 15- to 21-year-olds – Sky, Select and MixMag.

In August, it was announced that Rich would leave the UK to become EMAP Australia managing director.

Semple says: “The marketing director replaces my role as head of marketing. The decision to make the position a board-level one reflects our increased marketing budget and commitment to marketing.”

He says Metro’s marketing budget is worth between 5m and 10m.
