Engine Group buys Republic PR

Engine Group is boosting its PR offering with the acquisition of Republic PR for an undisclosed amount. It is merging the agency with its existing public affairs PR consultancy, AS Biss & Co to form Mandate Communications.

AS Biss managing director Sacha Deshmukh will become chief executive of Mandate and Republic joint managing director, Jane Howard, becomes chairman.

The merged company will have more than 80 clients including Nationwide Building Society, Kimberly-Clark, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Zurich Financial Services and football’s Premier League.

Engine Group chief executive Peter Scott says: “We have ambitious plans for Mandate in 2008, growing it into a top ten PR business.”

Engine Group partner companies include WCRS, Dave, Personal, Woo, Slice, Huge Entertainment, Karen Earl Sponsorship and Altogether Digital. It was formed in 2005.
