The man responsible for re-organising Reckitt & Colman’s category management across Europe is leaving the company.

Christian Ginebre, marketing and development director for Europe, will go in September: “to find a new challenge”.

In the past 18 months, he has led a review of the company’s European category management to rationalise the brand portfolio and allow Reckitt to develop a more unified strategy across its divisions. The review resulted in the company refocusing on its core household and pharmaceutical businesses.

Ginebre has played a leading role in rationalising the number of roster ad agencies on its 40m European account from 12 to four: Saatchi & Saatchi, EURO RSCG, TBWA and BDDP.

He says that R&C will follow the European changes with a global agency realignment.

John Broom, category manager for air care – which includes Haze, Airwick and Wizard Airfresh – is also leaving the company. He will go next week, and is believed to be emigrating to Australia.

A spokeswoman for R&C says it will make no immediate announcement about replacements for either post.

Reckitt sold the Colman’s food and drinks side of its business to Unilever in May.
