Eurosport appoints new MD

Eurosport has promoted David Kerr to the role of managing director, as part of a restructuring of its UK operations.

Kerr, who has been with Eurosport since 2005, will continue in his role as director of British Eurosport, adding responsibility for all the UK-based Eurosport operations.

Before Eurosport, Kerr worked at Channel 4 where he was head of sport, overseeing its Test Cricket and horse racing coverage, and held responsibility for sports commissioning.

Guillaume Canard-Duchene has also joined the company as head of sales.

He joins from Eurosport’s Tokyo office where he held the position of commercial director for the Asia Pacific region.

Canard-Duchene will fill the role currently held by Mark McFarlane. He moves to Eurosport’s Hong Kong office to manage the commercial operations for the company in South and South East Asia, China and Pacific region.

Laurent-Eric Le Lay, chairman and chief executive of Eurosport, says the new hires follow an “excellent performance of Eurosport in the UK,” driven by investment in on air and online content and new technology.
