Eurotunnel hit by more top exits
Eurotunnel continues to be rocked by top-level changes in the UK with the sudden departure this week of its recently appointed director of sales and marketing Neil Cooper and the resignation of marketing manager Amanda Hill.
Cooper became UK sales and marketing director just before Christmas when Eurotunnel split the UK and continental Europe role between himself and Jean Paul Courant. The departures come in the wake of the exit of commercial director Christopher Garnett, which was first revealed by Marketing Week (MW February 10). Eurotunnel is still looking for his replacement.
The UK role has now been split again with separate sales and marketing directors in the UK, which accounts 70 per cent of the business, while Courant continues to hold his European position, where he is responsible for the remainder.
Philippa Harris will take over the role of UK marketing director, while Paul Cowgill will be appointed UK sales director. Both will report to the new commercial director. Harris was responsible for marketing Le Shuttle Holidays and Cowgill was general passenger sales manager.
A Eurotunnel spokeswoman says Cooper’s exit was “mutually agreed” and that Hill left Eurotunnel because she did not want to relocate from London to Folkestone. Her job is being taken over by Sue Weland, who was also UK marketing manager.
