Ex-Gaymer chief scoops Abbey post

Former Gaymer marketing director Elaine Robinson has joined Abbey National as marketing director of its new general insurance arm.

Robinson is talking to advertising agencies about running a separate ad account for the division, called Abbey National General Insurance (ANGI).

ANGI, a joint venture between the bank and Commercial Union, launched last month under ANGI director Michael Pendle. It sells insurance products to consumers who take out mortgages with Abbey National.

A spokeswoman for Abbey National says ANGI is completely separate from the Abbey National marketing department, run by Ambrose McGinn, marketing director for lending, banking and advertising. Abbey uses ad agencies Barker & Ralston and EURO RSCG Wnek Gosper.

“It has just launched and she is weighing up the options,” says the spokeswoman.

Robinson left Gaymer in January (MW January 13) after its acquisition by Matthew Clark in November last year. She was replaced by Matthew Clark marketing director Mike Ader in the new company Matthew Clark Gaymer.
