Facebook has rebuffed reports it’s losing traffic in major markets.

Earlier this week, social media blog Inside Facebook used its Gold Data service to analyse active Facebook users, revealing that in mature markets such as Canada, Norway, Russia, the UK and US traffic had dropped, helping to slow overall traffic growth.

Facebook says: “Some of these reports use data extracted from our advertising tool, which provides broad estimates on the reach of Facebook ads and isn’t designed to be a source for tracking the overall growth of Facebook.

“We are very pleased with our growth and with the way people are engaged with Facebook. More than 50% of our active users log on to Facebook in any given day.”

Its claims are backed up by data from web measurement firm ComScore, which reveals that active Facebook users are still growing in every market.

According to ComScore, Facebook use in the US grew by 25% in April year on year, and by 26% in Europe.

ComScore’s data changed in the UK in January so can’t be compared over the past year, but it shows that Facebook’s monthly UK users grew from 27.6m in March to 27.8m in April.
