Famous Grouse distiller promotes marketing supremo in restructure

Scotch whisky distiller Edrington, which manufactures The Famous Grouse, has promoted group sales and marketing director Barrie Jackson to the new role of group strategy director. Jackson will be replaced by Bill Farrar, the managing director of The Famous Grouse brand.

Edrington also manufactures The Macallan, Highland Park and Cutty Sark.

Both Jackson and Farrar will report to deputy chief executive Ian Curle and chairman and chief executive Ian Good. In April, Curle will succeed Good as chief executive, while Good will continue as chairman.

Curle says: “The restructure is designed to strengthen the business, which has doubled in size in the past four years, and will put us in good shape to face the challenges that lie ahead in international markets.”

The restructure will not affect Maxxium UK, in which Edrington has 25 per cent stake.

Last month, the company announced that it is test launching The Famous Grouse’s first brand extension, The Famous Grouse Liqueur (MW October 23).
