Findus builds new brand marketing team

Frozen food brand Findus has appointed Katie Pigg as category marketing manager as part of a move to develop a more dedicated brand team in the UK. She joins Findus from Villa Soft Drinks where she was marketing controller.

Her appointment marks the first move to build a team around UK general manager, Ruud van Henten, who oversees marketing. The company is seeking two more marketers to strengthen the team. Interim marketer Max Law finished working with the company at the end of April.

Van Henten took over the role in January, following a restructure of the Findus marketing team. The company axed the roles of UK and European marketing directors as part of the decentralisation of the marketing team (MW January 22). Bjorn Ulfberg, former general manager for the UK, was promoted to head of international sales during the restructure.

The review of the brand’s performance in the UK follows admissions that the brand had not performed well in this market. However, the company denies that it has any plans to pull out of the UK (MW November 13, 2003).

Findus, which is owned by venture capitalist EQT Partners, sells a range of products in the UK, including frozen pasta brand Pasta Presto and Crispy Pancakes.
