Firstplus calls digital review

Firstplus

Firstplus, a division of Barclays, has called a review of its digital business. Incumbent E3 has been invited to repitch alongside a number of undisclosed agencies.

Internet strategy development director Nicola Hinds confirms the review, saying the business is looking for a strategic digital partner to deliver its "ambitious online vision". A bank spokesman refuses to comment on the value of the business.

The secured personal loans company’s advertising has been fronted by celebrity mathematician Carol Vorderman since 1998. She also appears on its website and across other marketing communications.

The financial services company was founded in 1997 and now has more than 70,000 customers. Walker Media handles the brand’s media planning and buying, while direct marketing agency EHS Brann works on all offline advertising. Both are on the Barclays roster.

Marketing director Chris Waring joined the business in December 2005 following the departure of director of marketing and customer relationship management Alaric Churchill last year (MW June 23, 2005). Consultant Alida Maccietto was appointed to handle marketing duties on an interim basis following his departure.
