Five launches on Freesat

Five%20Five is set to launch on Freesat, the free-to-air digital satellite TV service, on November 18. The broadcaster will be the last of the terrestrial channels to join the Freesat platform.

Five will automatically be added via viewers’ Freesat digital boxes or integrated TVs, without subscribers having to re-tune any settings.

Freest managing director, Emma Scott, says: “The large numbers of homes that have already chosen Freesat will be able to enjoy Five alongside around 140 other channels available without a subscription or contract.”

Charles Constable, director of strategy at Five, adds the launch will support its objectives to be “universally available throughout the UK, to let viewers watch our programmes on the platform of their choice, and to enable as many people as possible to watch Five free of charge”.

The addition of Five comes as Freesat launches a new advertising highlighting its high definition programming through ads in national newspapers, supplements, TV listings and digital media.
