Fledgling IPC Electric to launch TV listings site

Magazine group IPC has unveiled its first major Website launch since it established its &£25m standalone electronic publishing division, IPC Electric, in September.

TV listings site Unmissable TV (www.unmissablewtv.com) is scheduled to go live on December 2, and will draw on the group’s portfolio of TV-related magazines published through its IPC tx title group. These titles comprise What’s on TV, TV Times and TV & Satellite Week, representing 57 per cent of the TV listings magazine market. The site is expected to benefit from heavy promotion in all these print titles.

As well as providing comprehensive coverage from across the IPC titles, the Website is also designed to provide users with a personalised viewing planner and diary service, developed alongside Internet systems company Vignette.

Information gained from users’ requests for programme information, and data gleened from personalisation requests could allow IPC to offer targeted e-commerce propositions to site users.

IPC tx managing director Caroline Ward says: “tx leads the TV information market in print, and we have a strategy which will extend this leadership into electronic media.”
