Flintoff and Botham push Ashes tests

BSkyB’s seven-figure campaign to promote England vs Australia cricket series centres around passion created by test matches

BSkyB is launching a marketing campaign to support Sky Sports’ live coverage of the npower Ashes test cricket series between England and Australia. 

The seven-figure campaign will centre around the passion and drama evoked by the test match series. The ads will feature imagery highlighting the nation’s excitement when England last won the Ashes in 2005. 

The print and outdoor ads were created by Brothers & Sisters, and the TV spot by WCRS. It features players including Andrew Flintoff and former cricketer Sir Ian Botham.

Botham will front the TV ad, while the print and outdoor ads will be presented from a fan’s perspective, with the strapline “It can only be an Ashes summer”. The campaign will also be supported by a dedicated microsite.

The Ashes will be aired on Sky Sports from July 8. It will be the first Ashes to be screened in HD and will also be available across multiple platforms.
