Former Abbey marketer takes leading role at Threadneedle

Threadneedle Investments, the American Express-owned asset management company, has appointed a former Abbey National marketer as it new marketing director.

Susan Cross (pictured) will drive through Threadneedle’s global marketing strategy as the financial services company looks to expand its geographic reach.

Cross will also be a member of the company’s distribution membership team and will report into head of distribution David Gasparro.

Cross is understood to be a replacement for Denis Tümbult, who has left the company.

She previously spent six years at fund management company GAM.

Prior to that, Cross was director of wealth management strategy for Abbey National.

The appointment of Cross comes as Threadneedle Investments reviews its advertising and communications business (MW June 28 2007). It is also thought to be reviewing its overall brand strategy and marketing mix.

Threadneedle was founded in 1994 and manages assets for a wide range of clients, like pension funds, insurance companies and private investors.
