Former Chrysalis chief returns to radio

phil%20rileyPhil Riley, the former chief executive of Chrysalis Radio, has been appointed chairman of Reciva, the internet radio manufacturer. The appointment comes as it completes a round of fundraising ahead of expansion in the UK and internationally.

It is the first role that Riley has held since leaving Chrysalis last year following its sale to Global Radio for £170m. He had been with the company for eight years.

Reciva chief executive, Ben Terrell, says Riley is an “acknowledged leader in the UK radio industry”. He adds: “His business and broadcasting skills will ensure Reciva maximises its market leading position as the internet radio industry develops.”

Riley adds that “connected” radios will define the future of audio broadcasting. He says: “It is great to be working with the market leader at such as early stage.”

Reciva, which is based in Cambridge, was launched in 2003 and has a 65% share of internet radio module market. It has also supplied technology to over 70 different radio designs.
