Fox Interactive Media appoints Daglish as commercial chief

Fox Interactive Media has appointed Simon Daglish, the former GCap Media national sales director, as vice-president, commercial. Daglish will lead UK commercial strategy for the News Corporation-owned digital division.

Daglish, who joins this week, has specific UK responsibility for MySpace, gaming site IGN, film review website Rotten Tomatoes and Ask Men, its online lifestyle portal.

Daglish will oversee a 30-strong team and report to MySpace UK managing director, Anthony Lukon. MySpace head of UK sales Nick Reid continues in the same role.

Daglish joins FIM from GCap Media after a period of gardening leave. He left the radio broadcaster late last year after being appointed as the first commercial director of Channel 4 Radio (MW July 10, 2008). However, his role was axed before he joined the broadcaster when C4 pulled out of the venture in October.

News Corp plans to increase the commercial focus on its online properties and last year announced the launch of an online advertising network to sell sites including MySpace and FoxSports.com.

Daglish had been at GCap since it was created by the 2004 merger of Capital Radio Group and GWR Group. Previously, he was the sales director for GWR flagship station, Classic FM. He was appointed as director of national brands and trade marketing following the merger.
