Fujitsu appoints marketing chief

Fujitsu Siemens Computers has appointed former Dell UK marketing director Nick Eades as its director of marketing for the UK. He replaces Mel Taylor, who left the company a few weeks ago to “pursue other interests”.

Eades left Dell in December (MW December 12, 2002) after spending five years at the company developing its marketing strategy and strategic alliances. Most recently, he looked after its public sector, large corporate and global accounts business areas. He was appointed as UK marketing director in early 2001, following the departure of Martyn Lambert (MW March 1, 2001).

Eades started work this week. He will report to managing director for the UK and Ireland Dave Cullinane and will be responsible for marketing Fujitsu Siemens’ mobile and business-critical computing products, which form the core of its operations.

Mel Taylor had been UK marketing director at Fujitsu Siemens Computers since 2000 (MW October 26, 2000). He joined from US data-storage company StorageTek, where he was marketing director for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Six months after joining, Taylor reappointed media planning agency BJK&E, after a three-way pitch against Carat and Zenith Media (now Zenith Optimedia).
