Fru Hazlitt, managing director of GCap London, says she “won’t be shy” about making changes at Capital 95.8 in a bid to turn the ailing station around. Hazlitt has said in the past that the London station needs to be “radically transformed”.

She has also defended the station’s figures, saying that the losses that saw it slip into fourth place in terms of share of the London audience were due to over 45-year-olds deserting station. She adds: “Our profile is changing and we have increased reach, share and average hours among 15- to 34-year-olds.”

Hazlitt says it has added 500,000 listeners among 15- to 34-year-olds and more than 500,000 in the 15- to 24-year-olds category, although she admits: “We have clearly lost more than we have gained.”

She says that she is looking at all aspects of the station and she expects there will be things “that are not working”. She adds: “I won’t shy away from saying so”.

But Hazlitt denies that there are any plans to change Capital’s two-ad per break policy or that it is under review, before adding: “It is something we look at all the time.”
