Genie names Tiscali boss as UK marketing director

BT mobile Internet business Genie UK has appointed Nicky Stannett as UK marketing director.

Stannett joins from Tiscali UK, formerly World Online, where she was head of marketing. One of her main tasks will be to oversee the rebranding next year of Genie to O2.

BT’s mobile business, which is now called mmO2, will next month be demerged. BT Cellnet is also to be rebranded as O2.

Stannett replaces Susie Moore, who moves to work on O2 brand development with vice-president of marketing Will Harris.

Her new role reunites her with Laurence Alexander, ex-managing director at World Online, who is now chief executive officer at Genie UK.

Stannett will be responsible for advertising, online marketing, public relations and planning, reporting again to Alexander. She says: “In the UK, I am looking forward to a smooth rebranding of Genie as O2 and building on the existing high recognition of the Genie brand to create top-level awareness of O2 among its key audiences.”

Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO, Finex and Zenith Media all work on the Genie business.
