Get to grips with Sony’s handsets

I am writing in reference to the “Sony Ericsson signs up pop band” article (MW August 18). There appears to be a number of inconsistencies in the article that I would like to bring to your attention.

Firstly, the article suggests that the Sony Ericsson J300i handset will be branded “Walkman” and be integral in reviving Sony’s iconic mobile music brand, which is incorrect. I suggest that Marketing Week has this handset confused with the W800i Walkman phone that is later discussed in the article.

The features attributed to the J300i mobile handset are also inaccurate. Although the J300i does include a music player, the handset is unable to store up to 150 music tracks and has no integrated camera, radio or internet browser. Again, these are features of the W800i Walkman Phone that was launched on August 12.

What the J300i offers the user, in line with its fun philosophy, is 3D gaming, music DJ (composer), video player and changeable fascias to style the handset with the latest fashions.

The partnership with Girls Aloud will also provide greater appeal for the J300i among the female/youth market.
