Ghd strikes sponsorship deal with Channel 4

Ghd has struck a £1.3m sponsorship deal with Channel 4 to sponsor the new series of the hair and beauty reality show The Salon.

Ghd has struck a &£1.3m sponsorship deal with Channel 4 to sponsor the new series of the hair and beauty reality show The Salon. It is the first time that ghd, which sells its products through salons, has sponsored a television show. The Salon will start on September 11 and run for 14 weeks on both Channel 4 and E4, and will also be streamed through the Channel 4 website. The sponsorship follows a &£2m advertising campaign, also on Channel 4, that supported the launch of a range of products including hair straightening and waxing treatments, shampoos and conditioners and ceramic styling irons. The deal was put together on behalf of ghd by Propaganda, a strategic and marketing and public relations consultancy, and media buying agency Drama. A series of break bumpers are being created by Propaganda.

Euro 2004 event sponsors Coca-Cola, Carlsberg, McDonald’s and JVC will also appear as broadcast sponsors of ITV’s coverage of the event. The deal has been negotiated direct with UEFA as part of the event sponsorship contract, and not with Granada Enterprises.
