Gieves & Hawkes, the Savile Row tailor, is seeking a new advertising agency after splitting up with Mustoe Merriman Herring Levy.

It has already drawn up a shortlist of Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe and Walsh Trott Chick Smith for the creative account.

A spokeswoman says the company is reviewing its above- and below-the-line marketing spend, which is understood to be worth about 1m.

The last full-scale advertising campaign was in 1995 and recently it has only advertised at sale times.

Gieves & Hawkes, which has a flagship store at 1 Savile Row, is owned by the Gieves Group, which has a stake in the Knickerbox chain and a number of publishing operations.

When Simon Gibbs was promoted to chief executive last year he promised to inject more cash into Gieves & Hawkes, after it had reported an 18 per cent drop in profits to 941,000. He also indicated that he would be looking at expanding the operation overseas.
