Global Radio announces new management line-up

Global Radio has announced its management line-up and sales structure ahead of its integration with GCap Media on November 1. It comes ahead of the arrival of Stephen Miron as chief executive of its radio business early next year.

Darren Henley, the managing director of Classic FM, will add responsibility for Choice FM to his remit and also take on the role of director of brand innovation. It has also expanded the role of Capital 95.8 programme director Paul Jackson to include The Hit Music Network and Xfm.

Global has also appointed Robin Pembrooke, currently group director of interactive and online at GCap, to the same role for the wider group. Mark Lee, currently managing director – regions at GCap, and Will Harding, GCap group strategy and development director, will also both take the same roles for the new group.

Meanwhile, it has created a new role of group commercial director and is yet to appoint anyone into the role. It will be covered by chief operating officer Don Thomson until an appointment is made.

The new position will bring together its national and local commercial operation under one single management structure and will five agency sales teams, one client sales team and one interactive sales team reporting into it.

John McGeough, GCap commercial trading director, will become trading director and will be responsible for Global Radio airtime, trading, deal management, systems, traffic and scheduling, while John Legg, a former sales director at Chrysalis Radio, will become business development director. Nikki Vidler has also been appointed as sales director for Classic FM.
