Goldfish hunts marketing director ahead of relaunch

Goldfish is looking for a marketing director to spearhead the long delayed relaunch of the credit card brand following Patrick Muir’s departure.

Before quitting the company, Muir was Morgan Stanley Consumer Banking UK marketing director. It is not known if he has a job to go to.

Muir’s move follows a decision earlier this year to spin off card operations into Discover Financial Services, separate to the corporate bank.

Morgan Stanley bought Goldfish from Lloyds TSB in February 2006, immediately appointing Grey London to handle a £50m through-the-line relaunch (MW February 23, 2006).

It was the first major advertising business scooped by the agency since Tamara Ingram was appointed chief executive of Grey UK nine months earlier. She now heads WPP’s Procter & Gamble business.

However, the decision to divest the cards business delayed the launch, with no Grey work breaking. A spokesman for Discover says Grey and media agency Starcom remain on the roster and a relaunch is imminent. Goldfish is in early talks about appointing a DM agency to the roster.
