Greene King launches ‘smoke-free pubs’ campaign

Greene king, the pub and beer company, is marking the introduction of smoke-free pubs from July 1 with a major national campaign offering consumers the chance to taste its own brand of hospitality.

The Bury-St-Edmunds-based firm will be offering £5-off food vouchers in The Times and The Sun as part of a campaign featuring the strapline: “The Sign of A Great Pub”.

The ads will break in the first week of the ban and will be preceded by pre-promotion strips. The vouchers are valid for two adults spending more than £10 and will be redeemable in more than 10,000 King pubs.

Last year the company became the first pub group to target consumers on national TV with its sponsorship of ITV’s Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

Rooney Anand, Greene King chief executive says: “There is no doubt the landscape of pubs will change once the English smoking ban comes in and our research shows that pubs will now attract a new breed of customer.”
