GSK appoints agencies for global health brands

GlaxoSmithKline has shaken up the advertising rosters for several of its consumer brands.

The global healthcare manufacturer has appointed TBWA to look after weight loss brand alli and nicotine replacement products Nicorette, NicoDerm, CQ and Commit.

The accounts were previously held by Arnold and WCRS. The changes follow last year’s management restructure which saw former UK consumer healthcare president Roger Scarlett-Smith move to the same role in North America.

WPP’s Grey, meanwhile, added US brands Tums, Citrucel and Fiber Choice to its roster of GSK brands including AquaFresh and Sensodyne toothpastes. Arnold, New York, had held the Tums and Citrucel accounts. Nelson Henry was the creative agency of record for Fiber Choice.

Smoking cessation aids are a fast growing market. GSK last month received US regulatory approval to market its Nicorette brand in Lozenge form at two different strengths, as it already does in the UK as a gum range.

Peter Kirkby, vice president, global marketing excellence, GSK Consumer Healthcare, says: “we want to partner with world class communications agencies with a solid global footprint that can help us drive growth.”
