Harveys marketer quits in surprise move

Harveys head of marketing David Rich is to leave the furniture retailer half way through pitches for its &£7.5m creative and media accounts.

It is not known whether Rich, a former Allders marketing manager, has a job to go to.

Rich appointed Soul and Rathbone Media to the Harveys business only last year and had overseen the introduction of a new TV advertising campaign called Keeping up with the Joneses.

His departure follows the appointment in April of marketing director Michael Graham, a former marketer for technology company Microban (Europe) and the furniture retailer MFI.

Graham was brought in by new Harveys managing director and former MFI marketing director Neil Allan. He has already ditched the orange shop fascia that was introduced last year in favour of a red one.

The new management team is also reviewing a decision to take the furniture retailer upmarket made by Carolyn Simons.

She was group managing director for Homestyle, the holding company for Harveys, but has since left.

Homestyle is now headed by another former MFI executive David Brock, who was brought in to turn the group around.
