The range launches later this month and contains five different beans – haricot, kidney, pinto, cannellini and borlotti – in tomato sauce.

Heinz claims the product, which is marketed as naturally low in fat, high in fibre and protein, will to expand the beans category in the UK, of which it has a 66% share according to Nielsen.

Katie Bleach, marketing controller at Heinz, says:“We’re confident that this launch will attract new and previous shoppers to the category, which enables retailers to maximise from the increased footfall and sales.”

The move follows Heinz’s limited promotion to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
