Hello! plans fashion glossy to rival Vogue

Hello! magazine this month launches a standalone fashion magazine to compete with Vogue and Elle’s coverage of the spring and autumn collections.

The title, Hello! Haute Couture Fashion Special, follows the format of Spanish parent Hola!, which publishes four fashion specials a year.

It will consist of in-depth coverage of the seasonal catwalk collections from the main fashion houses, like glossies Vogue and Elle. The cover price will be 2.50 to attract a high AB readership. The 144-page perfect-bound magazine will have a print run of 100,000, using higher grade paper stock than Hello!

Sarah Pearson, Hello!’s ad director, would not confirm that the title is to be a regular fixture. “We are selling advertising on the basis of a one-off. The management in Spain will make any decision about it continuing next year.”

l Condé Nast is rejigging Vogue in its November issue. The magazine’s beauty pages will be moved from the back of the magazine to further up while the arts and review pages will move to the back of the magazine.
