Henley takes helm at Classic FM and theJazz

GCap Media has promoted Classic FM station manager Darren Henley to managing director of Classic and sister station, theJazz.

He will now be responsible for managing all editorial and commercial brand extensions for the two stations.

GCap chief executive Ralph Bernard says: “He has played a pivotal role in establishing Classic as the UK’s leading commercial radio station and extending this strong, successful brand into new commercially attractive areas such as concerts, books, magazines and TV.”

Henley joined Classic in 1992, the year the station launched, and was appointed managing editor in 2000 before becoming station manager in 2004. He has also held a variety of editorial roles at the station.
