Hilton health club hunts for top marketer

Hilton-owned health club chain Living Well is looking for its first marketing director as it expands into Europe.

Marketing for Living Well was previously overseen by Mike Ashton, formerly group marketing director for the Stakis casinos to hotels group, which bought the chain in 1995.

Stakis was taken over by Ladbroke in January. Ashton was promoted to marketing director for Ladbroke’s Hilton hotel chain in the UK in April, leaving a gap at Living Well. The Ladbroke Group changed its corporate name to the Hilton Group earlier this year.

A spokeswoman for the company says: “Living Well is expanding rapidly and we need someone to focus on it full-time. We are looking for a hands-on approach.”

The new chief will report to Living Well managing director Stuart Broster, who is aiming to increase membership of the clubs to 100,000 by the year 2000 and who will oversee the clubs’ move into Europe.
