Hitachi Capital starts hunt for group marketer

Leeds-based financial services group Hitachi Capital is looking for a group head of marketing following a restructure of its divisions and the creation of a central marketing team.

Hitachi Capital, which has a turnover of about &£165m a year, plans to expand its consumer business significantly. Last July, it recruited Martin Cutbill, formerly head of partnerships and affinities at Bank of Scotland, as its group business development director. The new group head of marketing will report to Cutbill.

Hitachi Capital has a number of divisions, including vehicle leasing finance, credit management and business finance. It is the main provider of credit to furniture chain DFS.

Its consumer division offers a range of insurance products, such as card protection and loss of income cover, and has expanded into personal loans in niche markets. It offers loans for people wanting to buy mobile homes or caravans, and loans to pay for cosmetic surgery, dental care or laser eye surgery.

A spokeswoman says: “The directors thought it was time to create a centralised team here. Previously, every division had its own marketing manager.”
