HIV charity fronted by Geldof and Bono appoints BBH

ONE, the foreign aid charity called that is fronted by Bob Geldof and Bono has appointed Bartle Bogle Hegarty to its global ad account after a pitch.

BBH is tasked with creating a global campaign encouraging people to sign a petition pressuring world governments to stick to pledges they made to combat poverty and disease in the world’s most deprived countries.

The campaign will focus on ensuring no child is born with HIV by 2015. BBH will develop a digital idea to raise awareness of the issues and encourage people to sign up. The Agency will also work on a photo opportunity for the world’s media during the petition hand-over in New York that aims to secure global news coverage.

The pledge, which ONE hopes will be signed by hundreds of thousands of people, will be presented in New York as world leaders meet at the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Summit, 20-22 September.

Jason Gonsalves, head of engagement planning at BBH, says: “This is a fantastic brief. The amazing work the team at ONE do is inspiring and we look forward to playing our part in this incredibly important campaign.”
